Apple Just Made Your iPhone A Lot Safer From Thieves

 Apple’s new mobile operating system quietly fixes one of the iPhone’s most-criticized features: its allure to thieves.

iOS 8, which Apple released on Wednesday, activates the iPhone’s anti-theft feature by default, meaning consumers don’t have to turn it on. The feature, also known as a “kill switch,” will disable a stolen phone.

Law-enforcement officials have said a kill switch, if universally adopted, could virtually eliminate thefts, leaving criminals with no incentive to steal them. But if consumers have to turn on the kill switch themselves, many might not remember to do it.

Apple’s new operating system solves that problem: The kill switch turns on automatically when people download iOS 8, thereby increasing its adoption and decreasing theft over time, officials said.

“This is a game changer,” said San Francisco District Attorney George Gascón, who has joined New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman in pushing phone makers to introduce security features that reduce theft.

“Apple products are the most commonly targeted smartphones, so deploying this technology on a default basis will safeguard almost all iPhone users in the years ahead,” Gascon said.

Apple introduced its Activation Lock anti-theft feature last fall along with the previous iPhone operating system, iOS 7. Activation Lock shuts down the phone when a thief tries to turn off the Find My iPhone program that locates missing devices. iPhone thefts have declined since Apple introduced the feature, police said in June.

Law-enforcement officials say turning on Activation Lock by default will go a long way toward their goal of deterring thieves, who stole an estimated 3.1 million phones in the U.S. last year, nearly double the number from 2012, according to Consumer Reports.

Apple’s new mobile operating system is available to owners of the new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, as well as older models.

Samsung introduced a kill switch for its smartphones in April. It is not turned on by default

The recent celebrated marriage between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie is making headlines again with revelations about their pre-nup. A cheating clause has been included in the pre-nup between Pitt and Jolie reports Inquisitr on Sept. 11, 2014. There is a powerful clause in their pre-nuptial agreement stating if one of them cheats on the other that party will have to pay a large sum.

News of an adultery clause in their prenuptial agreement clearly means although Pitt and Jolie appear to be very much in love now they don’t want to take any chances in the future. It has been rumored the inclusion of the pre-nup clause was largely influenced by their lawyers in order to protect their assets.

If Pitt cheats with another woman and the couple splits up apparently Jolie will get primary custody of their six kids. Furthermore, if their marriage fails the assets that they brought separately into their family will be returned to that person. The money and other possessions which they have earned while married will be put placed a trust and evenly divided among their six children.

Mstars news reports Pitt and Jolie are estimated to be worth a combined $425 million. Prior to their marriage Goldie Schon, an expert in family law, said it was highly unlikely the couple would not have a pre-nup. With the kind of wealth and stature they each have Schon was right in anticipating they would want to protect their assets from any marital problems which could occur in the future. Maybe Pitt and Jolie will have the peace of mind needed to now find some time to enjoy their newly married life and their family together. In this marriage it’s hard to say if Pitt or Jolie is the one with the most luck.

Drew Carey Offers $10,000 Reward to Catch Teens Responsible for ‘Horrendous’ Ice Bucket Challenge Prank

“Price Is Right” host Drew Carey wants to catch a group of Ohio teenagers responsible for a “horrendous” ALS Ice Bucket Challenge prank on an autistic boy, and is willing to chip in a $10,000 toward a reward fund.

“WTF? Just saw this. Horrendous. These kids should be arrested and expelled,” Carey tweeted after reading a Cleveland.com report about a group of Bay Village High School students who tricked a 14-year-old special needs student into dumping a bucket full of urine, spit and feces on his head.

“If the Bay Village PD wants to start a reward fund to find who did this, contact me. I’ll donate $10k,” Carey added.

Both the police department and Bay Village school district are eager to discipline the teens responsible for filming the prank Police Chief Mark Spaetzel called “reprehensible.”

Investigators are reviewing a copy of the video, which the attackers recorded on the victim’s phone and then posted to social media.
